Historically, Tulsa is known as the place where "Western Swing" originated. It started at the Cain's Ballrom in downtown Tulsa (still in business!) with the inventors of this genre of music: Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. The photo above, showing Bob and the boys with their instruments, was taken in 1941 at KVOO Studios at the Philtower Building in downtown Tulsa. |
