JOHN R. WOODARD, III

 

Since joining the law firm in 1971 after service in the U.S. Marine Corps, John R. Woodard III has handled litigation and jury trials in virtually all areas involving or covered by insurance including automobile and trucking, products liability, fire and first party insurance coverage, general negligence, and medical malpractice. He has substantial experience in litigation involving contract disputes and other commercial litigation matters as well. As a trial lawyer, John also recognizes the benefits of alternate dispute resolution methods and has actively supported ADR to resolve disputes.


Education: University of Tulsa, B.A., 1965; University of Tulsa College of Law, 1967.


Professional Involvements: Director and Secretary-Treasurer of the Defense Research Institute and as President of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. John served as Chair of the Trial Techniques Committee of the Torts & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. John has been a frequent lecturer at DRI and FDCC seminars.


As a Master Emeritus of the Council Oak Chapter of the American Inns of Court, John counsels young lawyers and law students on their obligations to be professional, ethical and collegial in their legal endeavors. John is a member of the Tulsa, Oklahoma, and American Bar Associations as well as a member of the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel in addition to DRI and FDCC. He was elected an advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates in 1991 and to the International Association of Defense Counsel in 1995.


Community Involvement: John has been active in various civic organizations and has served as President of Family and Children's Services, Inc., the largest local United Way organization in the Tulsa community.
